LAHORE: Punjab Police’s Officers and personnel remained on high alert and performed security duties during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across Lahore and the province.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem issued instructions to RPOs, DPOs, and senior police officers to enhance security arrangements for churches. He said that supervisory officers should personally inspect the security arrangements of churches, as well as important and sensitive locations.
Additional police personnel and snipers should be deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force should ensure effective patrolling around churches.
The IG Punjab directed that deployed police officers and personnel should remain highly vigilant and keep a close watch on miscreant elements. Search and sweep operations should also continue around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive locations.
Abdul Kareem said that religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and Peace Committee members should promote interfaith harmony.
