LAHORE: In a major leap forward for public sector digitisation and financial transparency, the Punjab government has achieved a historic milestone, raking in a record-breaking Rs 1.6 billion in a single day through the digital Irrigation Revenue Collection (e-Aabiana) System.
The unprecedented single-day collection, processed via the e-Pay Punjab app on June 15, involved nearly 100,000 individual bills and underscores the growing digital shift in the province’s agricultural sector, said the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) here on Monday.
The PITB had developed the Irrigation Revenue Collection (e-Aabiana) System for the Punjab Irrigation Department.
This milestone was shared during a meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf. PITB Additional Director General (ADG) Ali Raza Kheiri, Joint Director Usman Waheed, and other senior officials were also present.
The participants were told that since the e-Aabiana system launched in December 2020, e-Pay Punjab has processed 6.7 million bills as of June 17, 2026, showing the system’s growing adoption and efficiency.
Speaking on the occasion, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated that this achievement reflects the successful implementation of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision for e-governance, combined with PITB’s technological expertise.
He further emphasised that integrating the e-Aabiana system with e-Pay Punjab provides farmers with a secure, transparent, and convenient digital payment solution. He added that the initiative has significantly improved record management, ensured timely payments, and enhanced overall revenue collection mechanisms, contributing to better governance and service delivery.
