LAHORE: A training workshop was organised under the auspices of FACE (Food Safety and Agriculture Center of Excellence) to enhance the professional capabilities of Agriculture Extension Officers and familiarise them with modern agricultural sciences and technologies.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said that professional training aligned with modern agricultural requirements is the need of the hour. He said that the agricultural sector is rapidly advancing towards modern technologies, research, and innovation, making the continuous enhancement of the technical skills of Agriculture Extension Officers essential to ensure the effective transfer of modern agricultural knowledge and technologies to farmers. Sahoo said that awareness of modern agricultural sciences and skills is indispensable for addressing the challenges posed by climate change. He added that practical measures are being undertaken to make the agricultural extension system more modern, effective, and farmer-friendly so that growers can receive timely and quality guidance.
Secretary Agriculture further said that this training programme would further improve the quality of agricultural extension services and enhance the performance of extension officers. He expressed his commitment that, with the collaboration of FACE, similar training workshops would also be arranged for officers and staff of other wings of the Agriculture Department to further strengthen institutional capacity.
