LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority has collected more than Rs33.7 billion in tax revenue during May 2026, reflecting a significant year-on-year increase from Rs27 billion recorded in the same month last year as the authority continues its push toward achieving the highest tax revenue collection in the province’s history.

The figures were revealed during a monthly revenue review meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra in which commissioners and enforcement officers from across Punjab participated via video link to assess progress against their respective revenue targets.

The strong monthly performance is part of a broader upward trajectory. The authority collected over Rs319 billion during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, compared to Rs231.7 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, an increase of more than Rs87 billion and a growth rate of 38 percent. The numbers place the PRA firmly on course to set a new provincial revenue record before the close of the fiscal year.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Sipra credited a combination of administrative expansion and digital reform for the authority’s improved performance. He noted that the establishment of PRA offices in additional districts, undertaken in line with the directions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, had widened the authority’s reach across the province. He added that intensified enforcement activities, the development of a robust digital database, and sustained monitoring of tax defaulters had been instrumental in driving consistent revenue growth.

The meeting served as a platform for field officers to present district-level progress, reinforcing the authority’s focus on accountability and its determination to meet the ambitious revenue targets set for the current fiscal year.
