KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi on Wednesday pledged to advocate for the concerns of exporters at relevant government forums, underscoring the crucial role of exports in strengthening Pakistan’s economy, boosting foreign exchange earnings, and creating employment opportunities.

The commitment came during a meeting here at the Governor House with a delegation of leading exporters and industrialists, who discussed challenges facing the country’s export sector and proposed measures to improve the business climate and enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness in international markets.

The delegation comprised Abdul Jabbar, Director of Dalal Industries (Pvt.) Ltd.; Rehan Mahtab Chawla of Alkaram Towel Group; Arif Aziz of Silver Rags Group of Companies; Ahsan of Rumi Textile; and Rais Ahmed, President and Chief Executive Officer of Prime Impex International.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on issues affecting industrial and commercial activity, including barriers to export growth, investment constraints, and policy measures needed to support the business community.

The exporters also presented a series of recommendations aimed at facilitating trade, encouraging industrial expansion, and improving the overall investment environment.

Hashmi acknowledged the challenges confronting exporters and assured the delegation that their concerns and proposals would be conveyed to the relevant authorities.

“An increase in exports is essential for economic stability and for strengthening the country’s foreign exchange reserves,” the governor said, noting that sustained export growth remains a key driver of national development and economic resilience.

He described the private sector as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economy, highlighting the contributions of exporters and industrialists to investment, production, revenue generation, and job creation.
