ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday announced an Rs 4 per litre reduction in the ex-depot price of petrol, effective from Saturday. Meanwhile, the rate for High-Speed Diesel (HSD) remains unchanged following the latest weekly review.

With this adjustment, the new price of petrol stands at Rs 377.78 per litre, down from the previous Rs 381.78 per litre. The price relief is expected to provide much-needed breathing room for daily commuters, the transport sector, and fuel-dependent businesses.

In last review, the government gave relief of Rs 22 per litre on both petrol and HSD by adjusting the rate of petroleum levy. In last review PL on petrol was Rs 91.34 per litre and Rs 68.93 per litre on HSD.

This relief is insignificant considering that the price of petrol had been extraordinarily raised by the government in the past. Wait whatever little relief is there will be rolled back soon.
