LAHORE: Free treatment worth over Rs. 17.5 billion has been provided to patients under all special health programs from the federally-funded hospitals.
Under the Chief Minister’s Adult Cardiac Surgery Program, free treatment facilities worth more than Rs 3 billion are being provided to heart disease patients annually. Under the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Cancer Patients, free diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgical and medical therapy facilities are being provided to cancer patients annually at a cost of Rs 13 billion.
Under the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Stroke Management, free treatment facilities worth more than Rs 3 billion will be provided to stroke patients annually. Maximum facilities should be provided to patients in government and private hospitals.
Under the Chief Minister’s Children’s Heart Surgery Program, more than 12,926 children have been performed free of cost heart surgeries across the province at a cost of billions of rupees. Under the Chief Minister’s Children’s Heart Surgery Program, 536 children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 325 from Azad Kashmir, 131 from Islamabad, 38 from Balochistan, 49 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 35 from Sindh have been provided completely free of cost cardiac surgeries.
Under the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Transplant Program, 1,944 transplants have been performed so far, including 952 renal transplants, 601 cochlear, 311 liver, 40 bone marrow and 40 corneal transplants. Under the Chief Minister’s Dialysis Program, 1.824 million have been transplanted so far. More than 41,880 patients have been registered for dialysis in hospitals under the Chief Minister’s Dialysis Program so far.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique held a meeting in which a detailed briefing was given regarding various and unique projects of the Chief Minister Punjab in the health sector.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that historic and fundamental steps are being taken in the health sector. He said that efforts are being made to provide the best health facilities to the people. All resources are being utilized to provide the best health facilities to the people of Punjab, he added.
