KARACHI: A special Chinese film screening was held at the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi on Friday to commemorate 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, underscoring the longstanding strategic partnership and deep cultural ties shared by the two countries.

The event was organised by the ACP Karachi in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison Office, Karachi, and brought together diplomats, government officials, artists, members of the business community, and a large number of people associated with Pak-China friendship initiatives.

Chinese Consul General in Karachi Yang Yundong attended the ceremony as chief guest alongside President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah, Director General of the Foreign Ministry Liaison Office Muhammad Irfan Soomro, and diplomats representing several countries including Türkiye, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Yemen, Morocco, Sudan, the Philippines, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and China, followed by a musical tribute celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations, jointly performed by Pakistani and Chinese singers. A commemorative cake-cutting ceremony was also held as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations.

As part of the cultural evening, Chinese action film ‘The Shadow Chaser’, featuring internationally acclaimed actor Jackie Chan, was screened before a packed audience comprising diplomats, students, artists, and admirers of Pakistan-China relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong said the 75th anniversary represented not only diplomatic ties between two countries but also “trust, sincerity, mutual respect, and a shared future.”

“China and Pakistan have always stood by each other in difficult times, and this enduring partnership has continued to deepen with the passage of time,” he said.

Yang stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in education, science, technology, digital economy, innovation, and youth development, describing young people as the “greatest asset” for shaping the future of bilateral relations.

However, President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah described Pakistan-China relations as a time-tested and people-centric friendship that has grown stronger despite changing regional and global dynamics. “The relationship between Pakistan and China extends beyond trade, infrastructure, and economic cooperation. It is rooted in mutual trust, shared values, and strong people-to-people connections.”

Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Irfan Soomro said the Pakistan-China partnership, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has created new opportunities for economic modernization, regional connectivity, and shared prosperity.
