US Secretary of State Marco Rubio thanked on Friday Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar for Pakistan’s “constructive role” in diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, as both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation across multiple fields including trade, investment, security and counter-terrorism.

The acknowledgement came during a bilateral meeting between the two leaders in Washington D.C., where they discussed the evolving regional and global situation and reviewed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-US relations.

According to the Foreign Office, both sides expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in bilateral ties and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen engagement through sustained high-level exchanges.

Secretary Rubio appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and its efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economic collaboration, security cooperation, and joint efforts to counter terrorism.

They also agreed to further advance the Pakistan-US partnership based on shared interests in regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

In a statement on social media platform X, Rubio also said he had thanked Ishaq Dar for Pakistan’s role in advancing peace efforts in the Middle East, adding that both countries would continue working together to strengthen a “meaningful partnership” aimed at enhancing security and prosperity for their peoples.

The meeting underscores renewed diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Washington at a time when both countries are seeking closer coordination on regional flashpoints and broader strategic cooperation.
