FAISALABAD: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) held a training workshop on labour rights standards and advocacy strategies today at Hotel One, Faisalabad. Unionists from key industries in Faisalabad, along with human rights defenders and labour lawyers attended the workshop.
Trainer Dr Javed Gill, former director Labour and researcher, briefed the participants on ILO frameworks, their history, key conventions, and federal and provincial labour laws. He also explained the role and importance of labour institutions in protecting workers’ rights.
Aslam Miraj talked about the roles and responsibilities of trade unions and discussed the main challenges they face in the current context.
The session concluded with participants designing campaigns and practical solutions to address pressing labour issues in Faisalabad.
