ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Quetta in which at least 24 people, including three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, were martyred while several others sustained injuries.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, the president said such acts of terrorism were aimed at harming the people of Pakistan and diverting attention from the country’s efforts for global peace.

According to a statement issued here, President Zardari said that elements hostile to Pakistan were attempting to undermine initiatives that serve broader humanitarian objectives, international peace and progress.

He said terrorists and their patrons were also trying to disrupt Pakistan’s focus on stability and development.

The president said there should be no doubt that Pakistan would defeat terrorists, their facilitators, financiers and those providing them safe havens. He added that the country would foil every conspiracy against peace, stability and national security.

“Pakistan will neither forget nor forgive the terrorists and their patrons,” he said, adding that the blood of martyrs would not go in vain and every sacrifice would be accounted for.

President Zardari also urged the international community to recognise the true face of terrorists and their supporters who, he said, were unsuccessfully trying to derail Pakistan’s efforts for global peace.
