LAHORE: The Board of Governors (BoGs) of University of Health Sciences (UHS) has approved a budget of Rs2.134 billion for the financial year 2026-27.

The approval was granted during a meeting of the board chaired by Chairperson Farkhanda Wasim Afzal. The UHS vice- chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore presented a report on the university’s ongoing development projects and financial planning.

The meeting was informed that the UHS’s estimated income for the upcoming fiscal year has been projected at Rs 4.40 billion. An amount of Rs500 million has been allocated for the conduct of examinations, while Rs 920 million has been earmarked for salaries and allowances of faculty and staff.

In the approved budget, Rs 342 million have been allocated for operating expenses and Rs 96.8 million for research-related activities. The university has also reserved more than Rs 133 million for its Annual Development Programme (ADP).

To support student welfare and academic facilities, Rs 21 million have been allocated for scholarships, while Rs 31.5 million have been earmarked for computer equipment and information technology initiatives. An amount of Rs 20 million has been allocated for the purchase of research chemicals and laboratory materials.

The Board also approved Rs 45 million for the purchase of an additional bus for students. Furthermore, Rs 11 million have been allocated for the construction of a mosque at the university’s Jinnah Campus, while Rs126.5 million has been set aside for repair and maintenance works.

The Board also approved fresh appointments against 22 faculty positions on the recommendations of the Selection Board. Promotions of faculty members serving on tenure track were also approved, along with extension in contracts of 62 university employees and faculty members.
