75th anniversary of Pakistan-China ties: NA adopts resolution to strengthen co-operation under CPEC

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, highlighting a continued commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and co-operation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The resolution, moved by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the two nations and expressed confidence that this relationship would grow even stronger in the decades ahead.

A Chinese parliamentary delegation, led by Cai Dafeng, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, attended proceedings from the visitors’ gallery.

The lawmakers welcomed the delegation with applause, and Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq formally greeted the guests. First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also extended a welcome.

The resolution extended felicitations to the governments and peoples of both countries on completing 75 years of diplomatic engagement, reaffirming support for the “all-weather strategic co-operative partnership” and parliamentary backing to expand relations across political, economic, and cultural spheres.

It described CPEC as a transformative initiative for socio-economic development, regional connectivity, and shared prosperity, while underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to the timely completion of its projects.

Emphasising parliamentary diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges, the resolution appreciated the visiting delegation’s gesture of goodwill and highlighted legislative co-operation as a key pillar of bilateral engagement. It noted that 75 years of diplomatic ties reflect strategic trust, shared aspirations, and mutual respect, expressing confidence in a stronger, more dynamic partnership in the next 75 years.

Dr Chaudhry emphasised that Pakistan remains committed to strengthening all areas of co-operation with China, including economic, technological, and cultural collaboration.
