The Balochistan Home Department has imposed Section 144 in Quetta for one month, banning the display or use of weapons, pillion riding, tinted glasses on vehicles and gatherings of more than four people, as security agencies remain on high alert to counter any potential threats.
Adviser to Home Department Babar Yousafzai said on Sunday that the move came in response to concerns over possible actions by extremist elements, including those linked to outlawed organisations.
The authorities have warned that any attempt at adventurism by banned outfits would be met with a strong and decisive response.
Security forces have completed all necessary preparations and are fully deployed across the city to deal with any untoward situation, he added.
Babar emphasised that the measures are aimed at maintaining peace and stability, ensuring the safety of citizens, and preventing any disruption in public order.
In a post on his X account, he said security agencies are on high alert to counter any potential action by Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
