New SRO issued: Period for utilization of imported goods under EFS extended
FAISALABAD: The period for utilization of imported goods under the Export Facilitation Scheme has been extended from 9 months to 18 months.
This was stated in the newly issued SRO, which was highlighted by Chief Collector Customs Appraisement Punjab, Naveed Elahi, while addressing an awareness session held at Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA).
He said the SRO has been implemented with effect from 19th March and importers who have already brought goods under this scheme will automatically benefit from the extension. He further added that under the Export Facilitation Scheme, adjustment of imported goods against exports will be carried out on a real time basis. He also clarified that any extension beyond 18 months will require prior approval from the Board.
On this occasion, Collector Customs Appraisement Faisalabad, Dr Rizwan Basharat, said that under the Export Facilitation Scheme, the same facilities are being provided at Faisalabad Dry Port as are available in Karachi. Therefore, exporters of Faisalabad should fully benefit from this facility. He further informed that the installation of cameras at Faisalabad Customs House has also been completed, which will help resolve security related issues.
Earlier, S.Vice Chairman PHMA (NZ) Ahmed Afzal Awan welcomed the distinguished guests and said that the purpose of this awareness session was to provide complete information to members regarding the Export Facilitation Scheme and to brief them about the recent changes in the SRO, so that they can benefit from it effectively. He expressed hope that the session would help exporters better understand the amendments and utilize them to their advantage.
During the question and answer session, members actively participated, and the Chief Collector Customs and Collector Customs addressed and clarified all concerns related to the SRO.
At the end, S.Vice Chairman Ahmed Afzal Awan presented an honorary shield of PHMA to Chief Collector Customs Naveed Elahi, while Hafiz Rashid Mahmood (Member Executive Committee) presented a shield to Collector Customs Dr Rizwan Basharat.
