ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday summoned separate sessions of Parliament’s two houses, with the Senate set to meet today (Thursday) and the National Assembly on Monday (May 11).
According to details, the President has approved to convene the Senate session on May 7, while the National Assembly session will be held on Monday, May 11, at 5:00 pm at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
The President has summoned both sessions of Parliament in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 54 (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan. This provision allows the President to call sessions of Parliament as required.
The upcoming sittings will mark the 27th session of the National Assembly and the 361st session of the Senate of Pakistan.
The simultaneous use of the same constitutional article to summon both parliamentary chambers highlights the formal continuity of legislative proceedings amid the current political calendar.
