ISLAMABAD: A local court on Wednesday shelved two cases registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and others in connection with the 2014 sit-in.
Judicial magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi, while hearing the two cases registered at the Secretariat police station against Khan and others, consigned the cases to record due to the continuous absence of Khan and the other co-accused, as well as their lawyers.
During the proceedings, the court ordered that both cases be consigned to the record room due to the accused persons’ and their legal representatives’ continuous absence.
The cases pertain to alleged violations of Section 144 during the 2014 sit-in. According to court records, the cases were registered at the Secretariat Police Station in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, another court adjourned the hearing of a case registered against former prime minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, in connection with the misuse of a diplomatic passport without a hearing.
