ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday condemned missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that occurred overnight.
In a post on X, tagging UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sharif expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Gulf state.
“Pakistan stands firmly with our Emirati brothers and sisters as well as with the UAE government at this difficult time,” he wrote.
He urged that the ceasefire be upheld to provide space for dialogue leading to lasting peace and stability in the region.
The attacks on Monday sparked a fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, according to UAE authorities.
The UAE military said it intercepted three Iranian missiles over its waters, while a fourth missile fell into the sea.
Civil defence teams were deployed to contain the blaze, and three Indian nationals sustained moderate injuries and were taken to hospital, the Fujairah Media Office said.
Prime Minister Sharif, however, did not explicitly mention Iran or any other country in his statement regarding the missile attack.
