Austrian envoy hails Pakistan as a global peacemaker

LAHORE: Austrian Ambassador Wolfgang Oliver Kutschera praised Pakistan’s growing role as a global peacemaker during a visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), calling for deeper bilateral trade ties and diversified economic partnerships.

Addressing business leaders, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of business-to-business engagement and noted that Austrian companies are increasingly exploring opportunities in Pakistan.

He pointed to the country’s large consumer market, strategic location, and young workforce as key attractions for foreign investors. He also confirmed Austria’s strong participation in the recent EU-Pakistan High-Level Business Forum as evidence of growing European interest.

LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol welcomed the delegation and underscored Pakistan’s potential in sectors including textiles, agriculture, information technology, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals. He announced that the Chamber has established a dedicated Austria-Pakistan Business Council to strengthen private-sector linkages between the two countries.

Both sides agreed that untapped potential exists in trade, technology transfer, and joint ventures. The Ambassador assured full embassy support to facilitate business connections through joint events and institutional cooperation, expressing confidence that concrete progress in trade and investment would be achieved during his tenure.
