'Fake and frivolous': Pakistan rejects Afghan media claim of strike on Kunar university
- Says move aimed at diverting attention from what it described as Afghan Taliban support for Fitna Al Khwarij
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Monday rejected reports by Afghan media outlet TOLOnews claiming that the Pakistani military carried out missile or jet attacks in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, calling the allegations “blatantly false” and part of a propaganda campaign.
In a fact-check statement, the ministry said TOLOnews had alleged that Pakistani forces targeted Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University and nearby residential areas on April 27, killing three people and injuring 45 others, mostly women and children.
The ministry dismissed the report as “a blatant lie” aimed at gaining sympathy and diverting attention from what it described as Afghan Taliban support for Fitna Al Khwarij.

It said Pakistan’s operations are “precise and intelligence-based” and clarified that no strike had been carried out on Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University.
“The claims are frivolous and fake,” the ministry said, adding that such reports followed an old pattern in which Afghan media allegedly spreads false information to cover up support for terrorist groups and proxies like Fitna Al Khwarij.
The ministry also accused Indian media of amplifying such narratives.
It maintained that Pakistan’s actions are based on verified intelligence and insisted that “truth prevails over falsehood.”
