HYDERABAD: Sindh Community Foundation, with support from Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, has successfully completed and handed over key water and sanitation facilities to communities under the Restoration of Social Services and Climate Resilience Project in Thatta.

The initiative includes the construction of 60 community toilets integrated with overhead water tank systems in Union Councils Bijora and Gaarho, covering villages such as Ali Mohammad Jungai, Uburo Jakhro, Siddiq Shaikh, Jummo Khaskheli, and Mohammad Rahim Mallah.

In addition, two water filtration plants have been installed and at the final stage of construction in Village Ramzan Khaskheli (2,000 GPD) and Village Jumo Maheshwari (3,000 GPD), providing access to safe drinking water.

The facilities were formally handed over to local community organizations, who will now take responsibility for their operation and maintenance, ensuring long-term sustainability and community ownership.

Speaking at the handover events, Javed Hussain Executive Director of Sindh Community Foundation emphasized that these interventions are vital for improving public health, dignity, and resilience in climate-affected coastal communities. He encouraged communities to actively manage and protect these assets to ensure continued benefits for future generations.
