TTP, other terrorist groups are sponsored by India; Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism: info minister

  • Says Pakistan stands firmly against terrorism and is committed to defending its sovereignty
Published Updated

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Sunday exposed India’s role in sponsoring terrorist groups, including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and others, which continue to destabilise the region.

Tarar’s remarks came during a press briefing, marking one year to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s speech at Kakool Academy.

He said on April 24, 2025, during a National Security Committee meeting, Pakistan had rejected India’s claims, reaffirming its commitment to peace and justice.

“On April 26, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif delivered a historic speech, condemning the blame game surrounding the Pahalgam incident and reiterating that Pakistan viewed the tragedy with sympathy, while calling for an end to baseless accusations,” he said.

Tarar emphasised that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism has come at a tremendous cost, over 90,000 lives lost and more than $600 billion in economic damage.

He said that the prime minister’s offer to be part of an independent inquiry of the incident put India on the back foot on the diplomatic front.

He pointed out that India’s refusal to participate in an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident raised serious questions about its credibility, particularly when Pakistan had offered full cooperation.

He emphasized that Pakistan, which has been a victim of terrorism, stands firmly against such violence and is committed to defending its sovereignty.

The minister further called attention to India’s ongoing support for groups like the TTP and BLA, whose actions have long been linked to Indian interests.

In contrast, Pakistan continues to make sacrifices in its battle against terrorism, with its military fully prepared to respond to any external threats. He also reaffirmed that Pakistan’s red lines, especially on water security, remain non-negotiable.

“Pakistan has emerged victorious diplomatically, exposing India’s role in sponsoring terrorism while reinforcing its stance on counterterrorism,” he added.
