ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday he held a “warm and constructive” telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the evolving regional situation and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said the conversation lasted about 50 minutes and involved a detailed exchange of views on regional developments.
Sharif expressed appreciation for Iran’s continued diplomatic engagement, including the participation of a high-level Iranian delegation in talks held in Islamabad on April 11-12, 2026.
He also welcomed Tehran’s decision to send another delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, which held key meetings earlier in the day (Saturday), including a two-hour session with the prime minister.

During the call, Sharif shared an overview of his recent diplomatic outreach to several world leaders, saying the contacts had helped build broader consensus in support of sustained dialogue and diplomacy aimed at achieving lasting peace in the conflict-affected region.
He also expressed appreciation for discussions held between the Iranian leadership and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his recent visit to Tehran earlier this month. Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, Sharif said Islamabad would continue its “sincere and honest endeavours” to promote stability and security, adding that, with the support of partners and friendly countries, Pakistan would act as an “honest and sincere facilitator” for durable peace. President Pezeshkian, in turn, thanked Sharif, Field Marshal Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for their contributions to peace efforts. He expressed Iran’s desire for peace and confidence that bilateral ties between Tehran and Islamabad would continue to strengthen.
Sharif also conveyed his greetings and respects to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.
