KARACHI: The Sindh Information Commission (SIC) and Transparency International-Pakistan (TIP) have agreed to collaborate to promote transparency and open governance in the province.
At a high-level meeting, both sides agreed to implement the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act-2016 to ensure public access to information and strengthen institutional accountability.
Discussions focused on raising public awareness, building capacity within government departments and improving mechanisms for timely disclosure of information.
Sindh Information Commissioners Muhammad Saleem Khan and Noor Mohammad Dayo attended the meeting along with Executive Director Zulfiqar Shaikh, while TI-P was represented by Executive Director Kashif Ali and project managers.
Both sides said transparent governance was essential to restore public trust and improve service delivery, pledging to promote proactive disclosure practices and training for officials, as well as facilitate citizens in exercising their right to information.
Officials said the two organisations would develop a cooperation framework covering awareness campaigns, technical support and policy advocacy, and hold regular consultations to further strengthen right-to-information laws and practices in Sindh.
