SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry: Message from Ahmed Mujuthaba, SAARC CCI Life Member (Maldives)

SAARC countries comprise nearly a quarter of the global population. So we should strive to achieve a quarter of global GDP. At the same time, we should strive to: (a) Reduce the gap between rich and poor (b) Affordable healthcare to all (c) Instead of depending on coal, oil and gas for energy use solar and wind and hydro where waterfalls and rivers exist.

We have not had a SAARC summit for over ten years. So to achieve any of the above the leaders must sit together and resolve to reach those goals mentioned. Perhaps the leaders will determine additional useful goals as well.

Sincere congratulations to SAARC CCI on this achievement and best wishes for its continued success in promoting regional cooperation and prosperity across South Asia.
