Interior minister orders feasibility plan for Karachi-Iraq ferry
- Lauds coast guards’ anti-smuggling role
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday directed authorities to prepare a feasibility plan for launching a ferry service between Karachi and Iraq to facilitate pilgrims, while praising the Pakistan Coast Guards for their anti-smuggling efforts.
During a visit to the Coast Guard’s headquarters, the minister chaired a meeting and was briefed on operational preparedness and professional training. He laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial and paid tribute to personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Officials informed the meeting that over 14,000 kg of narcotics, worth more than Rs8 billion, were seized in the past year.
Naqvi directed authorities to intensify operations against drug trafficking and smuggling networks, stressing the need for sustained action.

He said the Coast Guard plays a vital role both on land and at sea, including during challenging and wartime situations, and assured full government support to further strengthen the force.
The minister was also briefed on the Pasni Safe City Project. The meeting concluded with prayers for the martyrs.
