JD Vance, PM Starmer laud Pakistan’s ‘exceptional’ mediation role

Global leaders, including US Vice President JD Vance and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have hailed Pakistan’s pivotal role in mediating the high-stakes dialogue between the United States and Iran.

In an interview with Fox News, US Vice President Vance praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in mediating between the US and Iran.

Vance said both are exceptional hosts and showed real statesmanship in helping mediate conversation between the two countries.

Pakistan’s successful diplomacy has resonated in the British Parliament as well.

British MP Muhammad Afzal, addressing the Parliament, said Pakistan is playing a leading role in resolving the conflict between the United States and Iran. He said the entire world is grateful for the sincere efforts of PM Shehbaz, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Munir, Radio Pakistan reported.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, endorsing MP Afzal’s remarks, expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government for its efforts to promote peace.

Pakistan’s pivotal role in regional peace has also been recognised by former Indian military officer Yashpal Mor.

According to retired Indian Major General Mor, as quoted by Radio Pakistan, the leadership and acumen of Field Marshal Munir have been instrumental in Pakistan’s mediation efforts. He said Pakistan earned the trust of both the parties by maintaining a fully neutral stance.

Meanwhile, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand also appreciated Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the US and Iran.

The Canadian foreign minister conveyed the appreciation during her telephonic conversation with DPM Dar.

Underscoring the importance of all parties adhering to a ceasefire, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its support for dialogue and diplomacy.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
