KARACHI: At least seven suspected robbers and two civilians were injured in separate incidents in violent incidents across the city on Sunday. There were five separate gunfights with law enforcement officials, while two civilians were hit by stray bullets in unrelated incidents.

In the Shah Latif police jurisdiction, a confrontation in Malir’s Gulistan Society near the railway line led to the arrest of two wounded suspects, identified as Mujahid and Wajahat. A third accomplice evaded capture. Authorities recovered two pistols with rounds, mobile phones, and cash from the scene.

A similar shootout in the SITE B area’s labour square resulted in two more alleged robbers, Ghulam Mustafa, also known as Mastu, and Meer Murtaza, being taken into custody with injuries. Police seized two pistols, ammunition, mobile phones, and a motorcycle.

An exchange of fire was also reported in Lyari’s Adam Tea Street, within the Kalakot police limits, which concluded with the apprehension of M Essa. He was injured in the fire fight while his associate fled the scene. One pistol was recovered by the authorities.

Meanwhile, in Surjani Town”s Ahmed Goth, a police operation resulted in the detention of an injured suspect named Majid s/o Jan Wali. An accomplice remains at large, while officers secured a pistol, a mobile phone, and a bike.

A fifth encounter occurred near the FC area railway crossing in the Sharifabad police precinct. The incident led to the arrest of Daniyal Hussain alias Deni, who was wounded in the exchange. His companion escaped, and a pistol along with cash was confiscated.

Separate from the police actions, two civilians fell victim to stray gunfire in different parts of the city.

In Nazimabad No. 03, 21-year-old Israr Ahmed was wounded by a stray bullet near Baqai Hospital.

Similarly, in Orangi Town Sector 7-B, Khurram, 48, sustained injuries from a stray bullet near Qatar Hospital.

All injured individuals from these incidents, including both the civilians and the apprehended suspects, were transported to hospitals for medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed that further investigations into all matters are underway.
