LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party Lahore President, Faisal Mir, said on Wednesday that the Pakistani leadership played a pivotal and decisive role in brokering the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
He made these remarks while addressing a gathering of labourers and rickshaw union members outside the Punjab Assembly, where PPP leader Majid Ghouri was also present.
Faisal Mir stated that the ceasefire between Iran and the United States was achieved as a direct result of the tireless diplomatic efforts of the joint coalition government formed by the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-N, describing it a momentous piece of good news for the entire world. He further said President Asif Ali Zardari, as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, demonstrated far-sighted and wise leadership that saved the world from a catastrophic war. He also credited Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s strategic thinking and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic vision as jointly instrumental in establishing peace at the global level.
Mir demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Asim Munir be awarded the Nobel peace prize in recognition of their extraordinary services to humanity. He said that this achievement is an immensely proud moment for the Pakistani nation and that the alliance between PPP and PML-N has emerged as a guarantor of world peace.
Faisal Mir also paid tribute to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying that the foreign policy framework he laid down was carried forward with full dedication and wisdom by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and that the fruits of that very policy are now visible to the entire world.
