LAHORE: The Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) wing of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Lahore has uncovered an illegal cigarette manufacturing unit in Chunian, seizing a large quantity of non-duty-paid cigarettes. Two suspects were arrested during the operation, while others reportedly fled the scene.
According to FBR officials, the crackdown against the illegal production and trade of cigarettes is being intensified. Acting on the intelligence, an FBR team conducted a raid on a facility located on Khadian Road in Tehsil Chunian. During the raid, authorities confiscated a significant stockpile of illicit and non-duty-paid cigarettes. A case has been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are under way. According to the FBR authorities, the operation was carried out with the assistance of Assistant Commissioner Chunian, Ghulam Mustafa Jatt.
