RAWALPINDI: Security forces neutralised 13 terrorists linked to India during two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Wednesday.
According to the ISPR, the first operation was conducted in the Bara area of Khyber District, targeting the reported presence of terrorists. Security forces engaged the terrorists in an intense exchange of fire, killing 10 terrorists.
A second operation in Bannu District resulted in the elimination of three more terrorists.
Sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored kharji found in the area, as the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under vision “Azm-e-Istehkam” (as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by the security forces and the law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, the ISPR statement concluded.
Since the Afghan Taliban took power in 2021, cross-border terrorist incidents have surged, particularly in KP and Balochistan, which share borders with Afghanistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have commended security forces for eliminating thirteen Khwarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In their separate statements, they expressed unwavering national resolve to completely eliminate foreign backed terrorism.
The president said operations against the terrorists will continue to ensure national security and the protection of the people.
The Prime Minister said security forces are like a solid wall against terrorism for the protection of the country.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has also commended Pakistan’s security forces for their successful operation against Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Naqvi praised the forces for sending 13 terrorists “to their ultimate fate,” describing the achievement as a testament to their exceptional operational skills.
