KARACHI: On the instructions of Sindh Senior Minister, holding portfolio of Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Transport Department has cancelled the holidays of officers of all Regional Transport Authorities of Sindh, including the Karachi Regional Transport Authority, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
All officers of the Transport Department will be on duty on Eid-ul-Fitr to facilitate the travelling public.
Special arrangements by the Transport Department have been made to address complaints of overcharging.
More than 3,000 vehicles were checked across Sindh. More than 14 million rupees were refunded to passengers for overcharging during checking. Fines of over Rs 4.5 million imposed on violators. Zero tolerance on overcharging, action taken on the spot.
On the instructions of the Provincial Transport Minister, steps have been taken to provide relief to passengers on the occasion of Eid.
The Transport Department is conducting a full-scale operation against those charging excessive fares across the province on the occasion of Eid.
