Crop sowing delayed due to want of water

PESHAWAR: Authorities concerned failed to ensure timely release of irrigation water from the Lower Swat Canal’s that had badly affected crops sowing season.

Water in Lower Swat Canal’s water channel under Malakand Irrigation was not released, causing distress to local farmers.

Farmers are facing severe difficulties as the wheat crop is at a critical stage and urgently needs water. Sugarcane also requires water, and tobacco cultivation is being delayed.
