LAHORE: The Punjab government has further intensified crackdown on profiteering mafia across Punjab as price control magistrates conducted over 81,700 inspections at various points across the province a day earlier, Secretary Food Safety Dr Kiran Khurshid said on Saturday.
Taking strict action on more than 4,200 complaints of overcharging, price control magistrates initiated enforcement measures against violators, she added.
According to official details, 26 FIRs were registered, 86 profiteers were arrested, and fines exceeding Rs3.443 million were imposed for overpricing and violation of officially notified rates.
