LAHORE: Former President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Muhammad Ali Mian, has welcomed the establishment of the Punjab Economic Transformation Committee by the chief minister, describing it as an important initiative aimed at strengthening the province’s economic structure and accelerating industrial development.
He emphasized that the real impact of the committee will be realized only if experienced representatives from the private sector, particularly industrialists and exporters, are included in the decision-making process.
Muhammad Ali Mian said that Punjab holds a central position in Pakistan’s economy, contributing nearly 55 to 60 percent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product while also playing a dominant role in industrial production and exports. Given this significance, he stressed the need for a well-coordinated provincial economic strategy that can guide sustainable growth, encourage investment and enhance export performance. According to him, the Punjab Economic Transformation Committee has the potential to become an effective platform for shaping such a strategy.
He stated that meaningful participation of seasoned industrialists would enable the committee to better understand the practical challenges faced by the business community and design policies that are aligned with economic realities. With the right representation, the forum could help stimulate industrial expansion, attract investment and strengthen export-oriented sectors throughout the province.
