LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has received around 16,000 applications since September 2024 through its Global IT Certifications Programme, aimed at facilitating internationally recognised certifications for youth.
This was highlighted during a progress review meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by PITB Director General e-Governance Sajid Latif, Director Skills Development Wing Chaudhry Ahmed Islam, and other senior officials.
During the briefing, it was revealed that the eligibility of over 8,500 candidates has been verified through the PITB-developed portal so far. Payment verification for 511 candidates is complete, and the fee reimbursement process is underway after verification of 401 certifications. Furthermore, 273 successful candidates who completed their certifications have already received full reimbursement of their certification fee directly into their bank accounts.
Speaking on this occasion, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated, “The primary objective of the Global IT Certifications Programme is to equip youth with internationally recognised digital skills and enhance their employability in the global market.” He further added that, in light of the overwhelming response from youth and the evolving needs of the industry, the programme’s scope has been expanded to offer more than 120 globally recognised certifications.
