LAHORE: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here Sunday and both exchanged views on the country’s internal and overall situation.
The premier has already issued directions to all relevant federal and provincial institutions to ensure prompt and comprehensive security measures in view of the current situation. He asked the institutions to fulfil their responsibilities with mutual coordination and complete coherence.
Naqvi briefed the PM on his recent visits to Italy and Poland. He gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister about four-nation Interior Ministers’ conference held in Rome, Italy, which was also attended by the Interior Ministers of Spain, Greece and the host Italy.
Naqvi also briefed the Prime Minister about six-nation Interior Ministers’ meeting held in Poland, which was also participated by the Latvia, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, and host Poland.
He informed the Prime Minister that participating countries of both the conferences agreed to expedite the issuance of legal work permits for Pakistani nationals. The member countries of the conferences lauded Pakistan’s performance for showing forty-seven percent decline in illegal travelling of the Pakistani nationals towards the European countries and human trafficking, Naqvi apprised the PM.
Naqvi said both Poland and Italy would soon abolish visa condition for Pakistani diplomatic and official passport holders. He said a comprehensive plan would soon be presented to the European Union to enhance Pakistan’s immigration and border security capacity and capabilities.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the efforts of the Interior Minister.
