‘Pakistan's actions against terrorism are national defence necessity’

ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari, has stated that Pakistan’s actions against terrorism are a national defence necessity.

In response to the military’s operation that destroyed seven hideouts of the Fitna al-Khawarij in Afghanistan, resulting in over 80 casualties, Bukhari emphasized that the Taliban government has failed to address Pakistan’s concerns regarding the continued terrorist incidents.

“The Afghan government should have effectively prevented terrorist centers, eliminating the need for cross-border action,” Bukhari said. “When a country’s sovereignty is threatened, it has the right to defend itself.”

He added that it is the Afghan government’s responsibility to ensure its territory is not used for terrorist planning and hideouts.

Bukhari pointed out that the threads of terrorist incidents in Pakistan lead to extremist groups in Afghanistan, with key commanders of Fitna al-Khawarij sheltering there. “The existence of terrorist bases in Afghanistan poses a significant threat to regional peace,” he warned.

Bukhari stressed that Afghanistan’s persistence as a hub of war, instability, and terrorism is detrimental to its own people. He urged the Afghan government to cooperate on shared intelligence and take unbiased action against banned organizations to end tensions, ensuring a safer future for millions in South Asia.
