KARACHI: Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Karachi Chief Organizer Tariq Chandiwala, has expressed serious concern over the uncontrolled demon of inflation before the start of Ramadan and said that like every year, the administration seems to be failing to control inflation this year too.

Price lists should be issued not just for hanging in shops but for real implementation.

The real root of inflation is not the stalls and small shopkeepers but the wholesale mafia and hoarders, who store vegetables, fruits, flour, pulses, rice, sugar, cooking oil and other food items in large cold storages and warehouses and sell them at arbitrary prices.

The question is, at what rate are these items being supplied to retailers? Why doesn’t the administration check at this level?

He demanded that the focus of action during Ramadan should not be limited to retailers only, but action should also be taken against wholesalers and hoarders indiscriminately.

The real profiteers are always safe from government action, while small shopkeepers have to face fines and arrests.

Those responsible for inflation should be brought to justice. The big profiteers rob citizens and go to perform Umrah in the last ten days of Ramadan, while the common citizens remain in the grip of inflation for the whole month.

PDP leader has demanded that the government and district administration immediately conduct a comprehensive inspection of wholesale markets, cold storages and warehouses. Make the supply chain of essential commodities transparent and ensure strict implementation of government price lists, so that real relief can be provided to the people.
