NAB launches online property layout plans system
- The new digital platform is designed to protect the rights of affectees, facilitate builders by simplifying laws, reduce the harassment of the business community
KARACHI: In a major development aimed at increasing transparency in the real estate sector, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched a comprehensive online property system, making the layout plans of 1,026 housing societies accessible with a single click.
The initiative, executed on the instructions of the Chairman NAB, was announced by Director General NAB Karachi, Shakeel Ahmed Durrani, and Director General NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Waqar Ahmed Chauhan, during a visit to the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD).
The new digital platform is designed to protect the rights of affectees, facilitate builders by simplifying laws, reduce the harassment of the business community, and foster a more favourable environment for construction and development.
Speaking on the occasion, DG NAB Rawalpindi Waqar Ahmed Chauhan highlighted that this digitisation initiative marks a first in the country’s history. He said that the issue of purchasers not receiving plot files despite payment is particularly prevalent in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and a committee has been formed to address such grievances.
The newly launched system currently incorporates approved layout plans for over a thousand societies nationwide, with plans to continuously update the database as more societies receive approval.

Chauhan emphasised that NAB carefully reviews reports from ABAD to stay informed on industry challenges and is committed to resolving them through this technological leap.
DG NAB Karachi Shakeel Ahmed Durrani disclosed significant figures regarding anti-corruption efforts, stating that NAB has recovered government land worth Rs 1.5 trillion at the provincial level and has initiated a strategic plan to recover further assets worth Rs 10 trillion.
He announced that a joint taskforce comprising NAB and Sindh government officials is being formed to resolve land-related issues, with the Chief Minister of Sindh already on board.
Durrani remarked that discretionary powers regarding land allocation often lead to corruption, and in line with ABAD’s demand, land should be disposed of through public auction. Additionally, a proposal is under consideration to convert recovered lands into public parks for community benefit.
The leadership of the building community welcomed the initiative, with Chairman ABAD Muhammad Hassan Bakhshi said that the relationship between NAB and ABAD has strengthened significantly over the past 14 years.
He emphasised that for Pakistan’s economy to progress, Karachi must be fully supported.
He said that NAB has transformed into a more effective institution that provides relief and business opportunities.
He stressed that once NAB grants clearance on land titles, cases should not be registered against builders, a move that would restore investor confidence in the port city.
