NAB incorporates over 1,000 housing societies into online property system
- System currently being checked by technical team, official says
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has incorporated layout plans of 1,026 housing societies across the country into its online property system, it was learnt on Saturday.
Director General (DG) NAB Rawalpindi/Islamabad Waqar Ahmed Chauhan revealed this while speaking at the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) House in Karachi.
“For the first time in Pakistan, NAB has developed an online property system in which layout plans of 1,026 housing societies across the country have been incorporated into the system,” he said.
According to Chauhan, the online property system is currently being checked by the technical team and will be introduced soon to the public.
Only approved layout plans of the societies would be added to the system, and the process of adding approved layout plans was being continued, he added.
Meanwhile, DG NAB Karachi Shakeel Ahmed Durrani said the Bureau at the provincial level had recovered government land worth Rs1.5 trillion and initiated a plan to retrieve land worth Rs10 trillion.
Earlier, NAB chairman Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmad Butt (Retired) said the NAB had successfully recovered 1.8 million acres of agricultural land valued at Rs4 trillion in Sindh during the past eight months, and transferred that to the Revenue Department.
NAB and the Sindh government are forming a special task force to address land issues, which will soon become operational, according to Durrani.
As per him, both NAB and Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah are on board regarding land matters.
He was of the view that land sales should be conducted through auctions in line with ABAD’s demand.
ABAD chairman Muhammad Hassan Bakshi said five plots, including a park land, had been recovered.
He said NAB chairman had invited ABAD to collaborate on those lands and requested that the NAB be informed of any land title issues.
After obtaining NAB’s clearance, title matters would be resolved, and no cases would be registered against builders, a move expected to help restore investor confidence in Karachi, according to Bakshi.
The ABAD chairman also announced formation of a committee between the business community and the NAB to settle matters out of court and expedite long-pending cases.
