ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday spoke with Foreign Minister of Egypt, Dr. Badr Abdelatty.
Ishaq Dar congratulated him on continuing in his role following the recent cabinet reshuffle and conveyed his best wishes for his continued success, said a Foreign Office statement.
The two dignitaries also exchanged views on bilateral relations and discussed regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister has recently been in contact with his counterparts in Egypt, Turkey, and other Islamic-Arab countries that are members of the Board of Peace (BoP). The diplomatic engagements ahead of the BoP’s inaugural meeting, scheduled to be held in Washington on February 15, are being viewed as efforts to review preparations for the first session of the body established by the US President. The Board is primarily tasked with overseeing post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Pakistan has stated that it has not joined the BoP in isolation, emphasizing that its participation represents a “collective voice” of eight Islamic-Arab countries.
