President, PM take stock of situation

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif discussed country’s political, economic and security situation as well as the prevailing regional and global scenario.

The Prime Minister called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday. The leaders reviewed the political, economic, and security situation, reaffirming their commitment to collaborative progress.

They addressed the surge in regional terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, and reiterated the state’s resolve to counter violent extremism.

On the Iran-Israel issue, President Zardari warned that a military conflict with Iran could create instability in the Gulf and South Asia. He urged resolving issues through diplomacy instead.

President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their resolve to improve working relations between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
