LAHORE: International Cricket Council (ICC) Deputy Chair Imran Khawaja and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam separately arrived here on Sunday to hold a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi about affairs concerning ongoing ICC T20I event besides cricketing affairs.

The ICC official Imran Khawaja was greeted by Amir Mir, the PCB spokesman, at the Lahore airport.

Earlier, the BCB president was welcomed at the airport by Pakistan Super League (PSL) CEO Salman Naseer — also an adviser to the PCB chairman — and other officials.

Sources said the BCB president apart from meeting PCB chairman would also attend an emergency meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) via a video link. This meeting of the ICC will discuss the situation, arising out of Pakistan’s refusal to play against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the sources said.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had rejected reports in Indian media claiming it contacted the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the Pakistan-India match.

PCB spokesperson dismissed the reports as unfounded, saying, “The PCB has not contacted the ICC on this matter. Indian media, as always, is spreading baseless news.”

He added cryptically, “A little patience and time will clearly show who actually went knocking doors and who did not”, without elaborating further.

The PCB has urged fans and the media to rely on official communications for updates regarding international fixtures.
