Democracy, good governance: Pakistan reaffirms its strong commitment
ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation with Commonwealth of Nations Secretary-General Shirley Botchway, during which Pakistan reaffirmed its strong commitment to democracy, good governance, development, and multilateral cooperation within the Commonwealth framework.
During the conversation, Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s role as a founding member of the Commonwealth and underscored Islamabad’s continued engagement with the organisation to advance shared values and collective development goals.
Both sides exchanged views on further strengthening collaboration across priority areas of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on enhancing intra-Commonwealth cooperation to address contemporary global and regional challenges.
The discussion reflected Pakistan’s renewed diplomatic outreach and its emphasis on multilateral platforms as a means to promote inclusive growth, democratic norms, and cooperative solutions among member states.
The Foreign Office said the interaction underscored the shared resolve of Pakistan and the Commonwealth Secretariat to deepen engagement and expand practical cooperation in line with the organisation’s core principles.
