KARACHI: In a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s cotton and textile sector, CottonConnect hosted a high-level roundtable titled “Strengthening Pakistan’s Cotton Sector Through Regenerative Agriculture.”
The session was led by the Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research (MNFS&R) along with Alam Zeb Khan (Additional Secretary, MNFS&R) and the Chairman of APTMA, highlighting close coordination between government and industry.
Dr Yusuf Zafar (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and former Vice President, PCCC) and Dr Khadim Hussain (CEO, PCCC) also participated in the session, joined by a delegation of senior officials from the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee.
Under the leadership of Abu Bakar (Country Head, CottonConnect), the roundtable explored a roadmap for adopting regenerative farming practices aimed at improving soil health, supporting farmers and ensuring greater transparency across the global cotton supply chain.
The initiative is expected to support Pakistan’s efforts to meet international sustainability standards while contributing to long-term growth in the cotton economy and the broader national development agenda.
