ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic gesture, President Asif Ali Zardari bestowed Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, upon Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Wednesday, recognising his pivotal role in strengthening ties between the two nations.
The prestigious award was presented at a special ceremony at the Presidency, underscoring Tokayev’s contributions to enhancing bilateral relations, boosting trade, and fostering cooperation in strategic sectors.
President Tokayev’s leadership has played a vital role in deepening the partnership between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, a relationship that continues to flourish under his stewardship.
In his address, President Zardari lauded Tokayev’s relentless efforts in furthering this partnership, highlighting the shared vision of prosperity and mutual benefit that binds the two countries.
Zardari emphasised that President Tokayev’s leadership is a testament to Kazakhstan’s commitment to forging stronger regional and global ties.
The ceremony was graced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the federal cabinet members, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, a host of parliamentarians, and a distinguished gathering of diplomats.
Following the award presentation, a lavish state banquet was hosted to honour President Tokayev’s visit, reinforcing the deepening ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
