KARACHI: The Governor Sindh has set aside the order passed by the Provincial Ombudsperson Sindh against Moonis Alvi, Chief Executive Officer of K-Electric, in a workplace harassment complaint, after hearing a representation filed against the Ombudsperson’s decision dated 31st July 2025 in complaint No. 30(KHI)/2020.
In the 7-page order the governor observed that the record placed before the Ombudsperson primarily reflected work-related and administrative matters, including written correspondence, WhatsApp exchanges and board-level discussions relating to performance and departmental functioning, rather than evidence substantiating the incidents alleged in the complaint.
The order further notes that the decision to terminate employment was taken by a higher authority — the Board HR Committee — and not by the CEO, and holds that the impugned order did not sufficiently weigh the available material on record before arriving at its conclusion.
On these grounds, the governor has set aside the Ombudsperson’s order which was issued in response to a complaint filed by Mahreen Aziz Khan before the Provincial Ombudsperson Sindh following the termination of her employment as Chief Communication Officer at K-Electric.
