KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tissori hosted a ceremony for the families of the Gul Plaza tragedy martyrs to show solidarity and offer condolences to them, with assurance of timely redressal of their grievances and all possible support to them.

Addressing the ceremony, held at the Governor House on Sunday, the Governor regretted that the fire at Gul Plaza continued to spread yet no timely and effective action was taken to extinguish it, resulting in the loss of many precious human lives in addition to 1200 shops burning to ashes.

He emphasized that merely providing financial compensation after such incidents is not enough. There must be an efficient system in place to escape such tragedies. Unfortunately, he added, such a system did not exist in Karachi.

He stated that Karachi contributes nearly 70 per cent of the country’s tax revenue, but this contribution is not reflected in the development and spending on the city.

He urged Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces , Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to take urgent decisions and steps for Karachi’s uplift.

Tissori announced that he will personally visit the home of every martyr and that plots would be provided to the affected families to support them in this difficult time.

He emphasized that those responsible for the Gul Plaza tragedy must be duly punished.

He was of the view that the incompetence of local UC and town administrations also played a role in the incident.

Referring to the ongoing terrorism in Balochistan, Governor Sindh stated that Indian-sponsored elements are behind such acts and that every anti-Pakistan attempt would be responded to decisively. Pakistan Army will continue its operations against hostile elements till a logical end.

Kamran Tessori reiterated his resolve to be the Governor of the people’s hearts, stating that he has no desire for positions or titles, but will continue his struggle at every level to protect the rights of the people and help the needy.

On the occasion, Chairman MQM- Pakistan and Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, senior MQM Pakistan leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, Head of Saylani Welfare Trust, Maulana Bashir Farooq, JDC Head Zafar Abbas, senior business leaders M.Zubair Motiwala and M Javed Balwani also spoke.
