MIRPUR: The funeral prayers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, who died aged 71, has been offered in his native village of Chichiyan, Mirpur with official protocol on Sunday.
The funeral prayer was offered at Quaid-e-Azam Stadium, Mirpur. Barrister Sultan Mehmood had passed away in Islamabad on Saturday after a prolonged illness.
The body of the deceased was brought to the funeral home under the leadership of the youth of the army, the coffin was wrapped in the national flag.
At the time of the funeral prayer, a well-dressed police contingent saluted, and a guard of honour was presented to the deceased. A gun salute was given by the Pakistan Army, and the atmosphere became mournful.
The funeral prayer was attended by the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, the Speaker of the Assembly, the former Prime Minister, and the British Parliament Member Imran Hussain, and others.
